Cyngstede Gundogs is a small working kennel and gundog training business based near Grantham, Lincolnshire.
Founded and run by Ryan Hyman, Cyngstede combines practical experience training, working and competing with gundogs with a clear, structured approach to coaching both dog and handler.
We specialise in Working Cocker Spaniels and also welcome Labrador Retrievers, Springer Spaniels and other gundog breeds.
Whether you have just brought home your first gundog puppy, want to prepare your dog for the shooting field or are thinking about entering your first Working Test or Field Trial, we can help.
Gundog Training
Practical, structured field training programs tailored for all stages of working ability.
Focused training built around you and your dog. Work on everything from recall, heelwork and steadiness through to hunting, retrieving, stop whistle, handling and competition preparation.
Start as you mean to go on. Our puppy training focuses on engagement, recall, confidence, retrieving, delivery and establishing the foundations needed for future gundog work.
Develop control and confidence while working around other dogs and handlers. Structured group sessions introduce realistic distractions and scenarios that are difficult to recreate when training alone.
Prepare both dog and handler for the challenge of competition with realistic exercises covering hunting, retrieving, steadiness and handling.
Training the Handler as Well as the Dog
Good gundog training isn't simply about getting the dog to perform an exercise.
The handler needs to understand why it worked, why it went wrong and what to do next.
Ryan's experience as a qualified rugby coach and experienced cricket coach influences every Cyngstede session.
Training is kept clear, structured and achievable, with a small number of priorities that you can confidently continue working on at home.
Experience From the Training Field to Competition
Cyngstede dogs are worked in the shooting field and competed in Working Tests and Field Trials.
Our achievements include a Field Trial-winning Working Cocker Spaniel alongside dogs with awards at Puppy, Novice and Open Working Test level.
That experience helps us support handlers from the foundations through to their first steps into competition.
Ryan is fully insured and DBS checked.
